I have been a fan of Anupam Sinha. I loved his work in comics. And I was one of the first people to pre-order THE VIRTUALS which I received with his autograph. The Virtuals gave me a flavor of many comics that Anupam Sir has made. I will not talk about story and theme as that would take away the fun of reading it in case you have not read it.
Remo Skater had the powers like Suptpasha of Nagayan. But he looked more powerful than Suptpasha. Peat was like Super Commando Dhruv. When I saw him wondering in a clinic, that reminded me of a scene in a Dhruv comic “Vampire” where Dhruv was wandering in a dark castle. That attacks that Peat faced in the forms of dreams reminded me of “So Ja Nagraj”, another classic by Anupam Sinha. It was a story in which Nagraj must not sleep otherwise; he would see monsters in his dreams that would come to life the moment he wakes up.
The thing that makes this book unique is a different take on heaven. The principle is that devotion of people gives strength to Gods. I was so happy to see this as it reminded me of another classic comic, Kaliyug, where Nagraj and Dhruv saved the Gods.
The action, emotion, suspense and twists are to name a few ingredients. The Virtuals has everything that would keep a reader glued to the story.
I am really glad that Anupam Sinha wrote this novel because with this book, I have a valid reason to shun the boring literature that many old fashioned people force me to read.
I was also happy to see the teaser of The Omni in this book.
Now as far as English literature written by Indians is concerned, the only two books that I am interested is The Omni, a sequel of The Virtuals and Law of Averages, written by my friend Kshitish Padhy.
I have even planned a two part movie on The Virtuals which I would like to make if I have resources and money. As some characters like Peat and Jiala are age-specific and actors for them cannot be decided, I have planned a cast for characters that are not age-specific. I have also planned music for some situations.
